About Us

In 1956, Gerhard Dallwig came to the United States as an 18 year old German immigrant. He couldn't speak English, and he had few job skills. Within his first year in the U.S., he got married to his wife Susan and was drafted into the military, where he learned how to speak English.

Gerhard and Susan didn't have much, but he knew that in America, he had the opportunity to do whatever he wanted. He wanted to achieve the American dream, and he did.

Gerhard started his career in the building supply business working for local contractors. When he started Dallwig Brothers Building Supply, he had only a few employees and just a couple of the oldest, cheapest trucks he could find. They couldn't afford real desks, so they bought some old doors that they transformed into desks. Those were their desks for years.

Today, Dallwig Brothers has over 40 employees, several brand new trucks, and real desks. Currently, three generations of Dallwigs work at the office.

The family and staff at Dallwig Brothers care about other people. The reason we love what we do is because we care about those we do business with, and we want to see them be successful and do great things. We've been doing business with many of the same folks for several years, and we love it when they stop by the office just to say hi and chat. We are very proud of the great relationships we've built over the years.

Dallwig Brothers has been family owned and operated for 35 years now. We're still just a mom and pop business, the only small business of this kind in the area.
